On Page SEO – What You Need to Know

There is nothing particularly difficult about on page optimization if you understand it. When you are first starting out, it is not all that hard to make your fair share of mistakes. This is why it’s crucial that you first focus on building your foundation first, before completely jumping into SEO. Keep reading if you want to find out how to get started with implementing on page SEO.

Keywords are important for you to understand how to use and find if you want success in SEO on-page results. Everything that you do in SEO is built upon keywords and keyword phrases, because ultimately that’s what people use to search and research. Because search engines often give a higher value to URLs when ranking websites it’s important that your keywords be a part of your URL. Even better is to have a domain name that is at least one or more of your keywords itself. Using such a valuable domain name (if you can get it) means you will only need a couple of backlinks to get the job done. Make the keyword the FIRST word of the domain name to increase your ranking with search engine results. 100K is a fair file size for your pages as that will allow them to load in browsers quickly. Having a larger file size will cause problems initially as it will take time to load. The recommended size is usually 40K; in a way, the smaller your page is, the better response you will get, from both, the search engines and as well as your visitors. It’s always better to have smaller pages because they don’t take up much space, provide targeted information and are easier to get ranked. In the event you have large page files, then see if you can optimize them as well as optimize your images.

Last but not least, don’t discount the importance of metatags, be sure to utilize descriptions of your webpage including woven keywords throughout it. You can give a brief summary of your page’s content, but try to keep it less than 200 characters. Using a good description can increase the traffic you get from search engines as people see the results and immediately know what it’s all about. You can expect to see a higher click through rate with this method.

This is by no means all there is to optimizing your pages, but it is a good introduction and is accurate. You can manage to get your site, or pages, to the top of page one, but it does take time and effort.
